synopsis
Olga, a young exiled Ukrainian filmmaker, explores her memories of Donbass and tries to keep alive the link to her childhood, even though this world has vanished with the war. Through her family history, far from the images of war, we also discover this unknown universe.
Director
OLGA CHERNYK was born in Donetsk, Ukraine in 1990. In 2017, she received a master's degree from the Department of Cinematography at the IK Karpenko-Karyi National University in Kyiv. After receiving a postgraduate degree in documentary filmmaking, she participated in several international workshops and residency programs such as IDFA Academy, Aristoteles Workshop (RO), CinemAmbulente (IT), Eurasiadoc (UA), B2B Docs, etc. She received a special award at the Papaya Young Directors International Competition in Poland. She also received an award for the same video at the Kinooko Festival in Kyiv. Her latest film, A PICTURE TO REMEMBER (2023), was selected for IDFA 2023.
