synopsis
In a very traditional Armenian family, Karine, 16, grew up surrounded by
dogs. Her father and she share this passion but while he is a dog trainer
fighting, Karine dreams of becoming a veterinarian. When she brings this idea to her family,
Everyone is against it, especially her father, because being a veterinarian is not a woman's job.
Will Karine succeed in imposing her career choice or will she be crushed by the weight
of the sexism that reigns in his country?
Director
Lilit Movsisyan graduated from the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography with honors in 2009 with her film Voiceless. In 2011, a short film she filmed was featured in the opening sequence of Ridley Scott’s documentary Life In A Day. In 2012, her short film Me Too won three awards at the Syracuse International Film Festival, and in 2013, her feature film Caucho received six nominations at the National Cinema Awards of Armenia and won the Best Actress award. In 2015, Movsisyan was selected as Talent in Sarajevo. Her latest short film, The Trial, was in competition at GAIFF 2019. Currently, she is working on the production of a documentary film Fight, which was selected for the EurasiaDoc co-production forum, and on the development of the feature film Elena Cake. Movsisyan participated in GAIFF Pro C2C Market 2019, EurasiaDoc 2019 screenwriting workshop, GAIFF Pro C2C Market 2018, EAVE on Demand: Producer's workshop 2018, and Talents Sarajevo 2015.
