synopsis

In Bamako two hills face each other, separated by the Niger River. The University of Bamako, known as the “hill of knowledge”, is sinking day after day into decay. The AEEM, the only union of Malian students, there reigns racketeering, corruption and electoral fraud. Its most striking arguments are machetes, but its “warriors” do not disdain the Kalashnikovs. The union leaders here are learning government techniques that they will apply tomorrow, when, having become political leaders, they will settle on the other hill, the “hill of power”.

Director

Ousmane SAMASSÉKOU is a director and producer. He is known for his documentary film Les Héritiers de la Colline (2015). He did the Master 2 in documentary film making at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis in Senegal 2016-2017. He is also a producer for DS Production (Bamako). He co-directed the end-of-studies film Et notre Afrique sur Scène (Documentary - 35mn - 2017 - Senegal / Panorama Saint-Louis en court award, Saint-Louis documentary film festival in Senegal 2017), with Mireille Niyonsaba, Oumar Bâ, Joséphine Legeay, Yannick Edoh N'Tifafa Glikou, Ousmane Zomoré Samassékou.
